Crazy Things in the Checkout Lane

While at Crest last night, the sacker started talking to me about Halloween. He proceeded to tell me, that he wishes he was still in highschool so him and his other 3 friends could dress up as four different versions of death and win the Halloween contest!  Now he's to old.  He asked me if I knew what the were.  I knew the Grim Reaper.  He told me 3 other ones that I didn't know.  One was a fantasy death character.  Umm...okay.  Glad you felt like you could tell me that story!

                 Crest

Last night was a great night to be at Crest.  I have had a hunch for a while about the pricing and when they switch things over.  I believe they switch their prices on Wed like the rest of grocery stores.  Earlier this week, they had minimal sales.  Last night? ALOT.  I know the cart specials(the items that are thrown in a grocery cart), those are not part of the sale. To me, that's more like a clearance item and it's random when they mark it down.  We went last night around 10:00.  Every employee was so nice.  I think we had a conversation with AT LEAST 4 stockers in the isles!!  I learned from one of the conversations that the 15th and Santa Fe location is the busiest grocery store in the state!   I can see that.  What's more amazing, is how clean and stocked they keep it.  He said it takes them from 9 at night to sometimes 9 in the morning to get out all the stock to fill the shelves!  That's crazy, but great!  When we got to the checkout lane, we didn't have to wait(which was awesome).  The cashier asked us how we were doing with a smile. Then he turned to my Mom-in-Law and asked her how her day was.  I literally paused for a moment because he was truly sincere and wanted to know.  I decided to press my luck even more.  I saw the meat manager who was off the clock and visited with him about how I can get my hamburger meat for cheap again.  He gave me a start, so once I get it all figured out, I'll let everyone else know.  For those of you who don't know.  I used to ALWAYS get their 95/5 or 93/7 beef for $1.68/lb.  Onto the awesome sales I found.

             Clip SmART Training Tip

Do you have a pile of inserts lying around?  Been behind on cutting them?  How do you know which insert came from what week?  Please excuse the blurriness.  The words are very tiny on the side of an insert.

At the side of the insert, just like a book, it tells:
1)Which insert it is(RP, SS, PG)
2) What date the insert came out
3) What papers this specific insert was in.

If you file your inserts, it helps-as you get them in-to take a black Sharpie and write the date on the front of the insert.

                     Diaper Deal at CVS

CVS is got a great deal on diapers this week.  Especially if you have $10 in ECB's to start with!  Here's the deal.  If the language is foreign, call me or email me.

Buy $25 worth of products, get $10 back in ECB's.  What are the products??
Box of Pampers 48-96ct -$20
Box of Huggies 56-96ct -$20
Gerber Good Start -$20
Baby Bottles, sippy cups, and paci's-$5 each
J&J baby products, Desitin, CVS Wipes, Gerber 100% Juice, Gerber Oatmeal -$2.50 each

Here's one scenario I came up with:

Buy 1 box of Huggies Lil Movers -$20
Buy 1 Desitin
Buy 1 CVS Wipes
=$25 before coupons
-$3/1 huggies from coupons.com
-$1/1 Desitin from here
=$21 after coupons
If you have ECB's(like I do), I would use my $10 in ECB's with my coupons and only pay $11 OOP AND you will get back $10 to use ONYO!!

$11 OOP for a box of diapers that runs you $18-22 on avg, plus getting the other things.  What a great buy!
AND the best part is, you have $10 to use on great deals next week and there are some GREAT deals next week at CVS!

Buy 4 Less

                          Buy 4 Less

Knor/Lipton Sides 3/$2
Lettuce 2/$1
Bunch of Broccoli $1
Valencia Oranges $2 for a 4lb bag(I don't know if Wal-Mart will carry these or not)
Colgate Toothpaste 2/$1 -.75/1 SS 8/29= Free!!
Gallon 1% Hiland Milk $2.88

They also have the $3/5 Quaker Products coupon.  It's a better deal on their products EXCEPT for their Oatmeal and their Oatmeal is on sale for $1.48 whereas Homeland is on sale for $1.60(starting Wed).  If you bought 5 Oatmeals, this would make it $4.40 for 5 boxes of Oatmeal, or 88cents a box.  You have to have the coupon from either Homeland's flyer or Buy 4 Less's flyer to use at Wal-Mart to price-match.  This may be a hassle and just worth doing it at Homeland.
